The closing half of the Bing Wu Fire Horse year is governed by Yangming Dry Metal. Dryness arrives above. Cold deepens below. Metal generates Water, so the dryness feeds the cold rather than balancing it. The year does not resolve in the back half. It deepens.
Then the Liver is struck first, and Fire takes revenge. Warmth returns in the wrong place, burning where it does not belong because the cold beneath has left it nowhere to return to. It reads as excess. It is displacement.
Gui Yuan leads fire home rather than clearing it away. It builds a warm place low enough to be worth returning to, and one warm thread to carry the fire there. It moistens against the dryness and gathers rather than opens.
What you may notice: Restlessness after dark in a body that is genuinely tired. Warmth in the chest in the evening. Dry mouth at night, a bitter taste at the back of the throat. Sleep that thins toward morning. Stiffness in turning and bending that was not there in summer.
Top Notes: Almost none specific.. The first breath is already meant to be deep.
Heart Notes: KZ Rose Otto and Absolute · Benzoin · Clary Sage · Saffron
Base Notes: KZ Sandalwood fractions · Custom Agarwood blend · Vetiver · Spikenard · Patchouli · Angelica Root · KZ Lotus · Cinnamon Bark
Energetic Directional Core: Gather → Descend → Hold
Pathodynamics: Dryness above generating cold below, with the Heart uncovered since midsummer. Yang driven from its seat burns upward while the root grows colder. Cooled, it scatters further and the cold deepens.
Orienting Therapeutic Principles: Lead fire back to its source · Moisten against dryness · Warm the interior without adding heat above · Bitter to settle the excess Metal · Soften the Liver, struck first · Nothing rising, which drives displaced Yang further out · Nothing cooling and clearing, which deepens the cold.
Wearing: Evening. One or two touches at the inner wrists, the centre of the sternum, and the low back over the kidneys, which is where warmth wants to be stored in this season.
The window: September 22 through January 20, truest from late November. Made for the closing stretch of the year. When the season turns, it stops. It isn't seriously counter-indicated for the beginning of the second half of this year, but is more suitable starting at the 5th Qi in Sept.
30% extrait in perfumer's alcohol. All natural materials, no isolates or synthetics. Hand composed in small batch on the Big Island.
An aromatic composition made in relation to a seasonal pattern, in the tradition of stem and branch calendrical practice. Not a medical or therapeutic product and no health claim is made.
