Yi-Xin Craft Incense

Ocean's Gold: Ambergris & Oud

$40

2 grams approx 40 min burn time per stick

This batch features a premium blend of Vietnamese (Fusen), Cambodian and Burmese  agarwoods.  Due to rising costs and availability of such materials, Ocean's Gold is always not so easy to make and offer.  This particular batch has a shimmering of true borneo camphor.  The ambergris is blended to a rather perfect degree making for a soft perfume like quality undulating in the rich soothing sweetness of the Southern woods.  It burns slowly and sweetly in space.. truly a precious scent.

On a poetic and spiritual note: from the first edition of this incense in 2020

A major part of the joy in pursuing my own PhD in artistry, aromatic and otherwise, is the integration and further fleshing out of my graduate and undergraduate studies. It is the honor of my life to make incense, to explore scented realms, imbuing thingness with consciousness - towards the Beyond and with Beauty. So much of my research comes to life in tangible ways through this art form - which then become offerings for everyone to enjoy and be effected by.

"In Sterquiliniis Invenitur" is an alchemical statement in Latin that means “in filth it shall be found” .. or maybe more simply “that which you most need to find is where you least want to look.” The profundity, gravity, and levity of such words go beyond the opportunity to describe here. In the process making “Ocean’s Gold” I dove into the expanse of this principle. This dictum pushes us through encouragement - for us to face whatever we are afraid of or disgusts us.

Ambergris is a kind of whale sputum and fecal matter, yet it offers such a unique aromatic treasure - something that is at once a shadowy muck and ethereally sweet blessing in scent and sense. So I invite you to dwell for a spell in the realm of these sanguine depths. Wishing you all health and wholeness, inspiration and intrepid living - facing it all and mining gold.

This is one of my favorites from this store

This is one of my favorites from this store. A very ethereal and complex scent that lingers nicely in a small to medium sized space. I prefer the version from 2023 better then this 2025 version with the camphor note. But,still wonderful ambergris aroma that intertwines with the amazing Burma agarwood used in this 2025 blend.
