1950s Muzha Tieguanyin
A historic piece of the Taiwan tea history. Muzha is not far outside of Taipei to the south east and is famous for the variety of tieguanyin plant called Hongxinwaiweitao. There are a few really fun places in the hills near there that offer 24 hour tea tables where you can brew for yourself or friends.
This aged batch of Muzha TGY reveals very clean storage and proper oolong processing from a bygone era.
A wonderful journey to embark on, this tea is an experience of proper evolution in scent and taste from the 50s until now. Thick body yet smooth, dried orange peel, milk and wood, black sugar, with over all Chinese medicinal character, yet without sourness or off flavors.
This tea, being so old, has gone beyond its own peak and offers us a taste of returning to emptiness, spacious and sweet, nourishing calm.
